In addition, both universities each have a Cybersecurity Laboratory designed for the development of specialists in the field and for research and innovation in government procedures, management, detection, and response to emerging digital threats in different areas of application. such as Industry 4.0, Industrial Control Systems (ICS/SCADA) in critical infrastructures, Fintech, Blockchain, IoT, and Artificial Intelligence, among others.
These spaces have real-time attack and defense simulation capabilities, infrastructure simulation for hacking tests, environment emulation for mitigation of vulnerabilities in software and hardware, and research and development of new vulnerabilities.
In her presentation, Vila Dosal highlighted that today in Yucatán there are more and more women who have access to pursue higher education, through the granting of scholarships from the Women STEM program, supporting them with a 100% discount on tuition and registration to students who are accepted to take study programs with this approach, this to benefit the economy of women and their families, focusing on their professional preparation without the monetary factor stopping their educational path.
The students have access to educational offers in the STEM field such as Digital Design Animation Area, Logistics Supply Chain Area, Mechatronics Automation Area, Multiplatform Software Development, Virtual Environments and Digital Business, Engineering in Intelligent Networks, and Cybersecurity and Aeronautical Manufacturing Machinery Area Precision, among others.
He recalled that the entity is today at the forefront of innovation and industry 4.0 with its STEM Certification Center (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, in English) at the Technological University of Mérida, a unique space of its kind in the southeast of the country that will provide young people with tools to develop in these areas with a comprehensive approach and have the preparation that allows them to access better opportunities for their future work.
This space, he said, incorporates in one place the Internet of Things (IoT) Laboratories, as well as Collaborative and Mobile Robotics.
He explained that this place is the result of the collaboration between the Government of Yucatán, STEM, and the Embassy of the United Kingdom in Mexico, in addition, it is part of the network of Certification Centers installed in the Technological Universities of the Poniente in Maxcanú, Southern Regional of Tekax and the Mayab in Peto.
