Mérida, the capital of Yucatán, México, is celebrating its 482nd anniversary with a grand festival that will showcase the diversity and richness of its culture and art. The Mérida Fest 2024, also known as “The Party of the City, an International Festival”, is taking place from January 5 to 24, 2024, and will feature more than 150 events and shows in 30 venues across the city.
The festival includes the participation of 768 artists from local, national, and international backgrounds, representing nine countries: Cuba, Canada, China, Spain, Portugal, Chile, USA, Costa Rica, and Italy. The audience will be able to enjoy a variety of expressions, such as music, theater, circus, dance, cinema, literature, and visual arts, in different formats and genres.
Some of the highlights of the festival are the opening concert of Juan Pablo Manzanero and his friends in the Plaza Grande on January 6, the circus shows “Tiempo de AbrazARTE” by Silvia and Silvia Káter, the seven theater plays selected by the municipal call, and the closing concert of the Cuban singer-songwriter Silvio Rodríguez in the Parque de las Américas on January 24.
The Mérida Fest 2024 is an opportunity to celebrate the history and identity of the city, as well as to promote its cultural and artistic development. The festival is also a way to attract tourists and visitors, who can enjoy the beauty and hospitality of Mérida, as well as its gastronomy, architecture, and traditions.
The festival is organized by the Municipality of Mérida, through its Culture Department, with the support of the State Secretariat of Culture and the Arts (SEDECULTA) and other public and private institutions. The festival is free and open to the public, and the complete program can be found on the official website or on the social media accounts of the Municipality of Mérida.
