They anticipate a month of January with the presence of low temperatures, at the beginning of the most active period of the 2023-2024 winter season.

According to the UADY meteorologist, Juan Vázquez Montalvo, as an effect of climate change, it is expected that there will be more days with low temperatures in this winter of 2024, which will become more noticeable during the second half of January.

«Before, there were 3, 4 days of very cold and then it warmed up again, then another cold front came, it was cold again, it warmed up again. Not right now. It remains cold in the mornings and early mornings, and during the day it is hot. This thermal imbalance in temperatures causes diseases and causes problems for human health,” he explained.

He pointed out that for this weekend, the Cold Front 24 entered Yucatán, which would not be generating a marked decrease in minimum temperatures, although the subsequent ones would be of greater intensity.

According to the National Meteorological Service (SMN), for this month of January, the arrival of 10 frontal systems was forecast, a figure that exceeds the historical average of 7, of which the first 3 have already been observed.

This would be the highest number of the cold front season, since in February the arrival of 9 systems is expected, while in March, 7 would arrive, both forecasts above what is normally generated in this period.
