On Monday, January 8th the director of the Mayan Train, General Óscar David Lozano Águila, presented a report on the operation of public transportation that was inaugurated last December in the south of the country.
In this sense, the member of the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) revealed that daily, the Mayan Train has transported an average of 800 passengers, which represents that, in its first 18 days of service, the project has transferred 15 thousand 579 people.
We are operating four trains with a capacity of 221 passengers each and are transporting more than 800 passengers to different destinations along the route. We have transported a total of 15,579 in 144 trips,” the official explained.
In this context, the general said that of the total, 8,632 of the people who traveled on the Mayan Train were women; The rest, 6,947, were men. It was also announced that 2,427 people purchased their tickets online; while 13,152 did so directly at the box office.
In more operating numbers, he also reported that a large part of the tickets have been purchased by national tourists and that each train has a capacity of 221 passengers, where an average of 108 moved on each trip.

To close his intervention within the framework of the morning conference of the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, Lozano Águila pointed out that there are six sections that have the greatest influx.
