New investigation against Naasón Joaquín García for money laundering and human trafficking
Naasón Joaquín García, who is serving a sentence of almost 17 years in the United States for sexual abuse of minors, is in the crosshairs of agents from the Homeland Security Investigations Office in New York (HSI) for possible money laundering crimes.
In addition, they are also investigating alleged cases of human trafficking for sexual exploitation that could link the leader of La Luz del Mundo.
Naasón Merarí Joaquín García was arrested at the Los Angeles International Airport in 2019 and charged with 19 counts of sex crimes against children. He was convicted in 2022 after agreeing to plead guilty to three of the charges and is now being held in a state prison near Fresno, California.
State prosecutors said Joaquín García used his religious position to have sex with girls and young women, telling them it would lead to their salvation.
