New Social Assistance Center for Minors is inaugurated in Mérida

Girls, boys, and adolescents who are under the guardianship of the State now have a decent, modern, and quality space to receive the care they require and continue with their development, when Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal handed over the Otoch House, the new Social Assistance Center for Girls, Boys and Adolescents (Casnnay), which replaces the old Caimede.

In the Caucel II subdivision, Vila Dosal led the inauguration of these new and better facilities, with which the State Government seeks to guarantee the rights and dignified life of minors in vulnerable situations, the above through this work represented a state investment of more than 153 million pesos.

In this regard, the President of the Casa Otoch Board of Trustees, Yuli Chapur Zahoul, stated that this project is an example that when Yucatecans unite we can build a better place for everyone and that in Yucatán we have a sensitive Government, where the rights of girls, boys and young people, especially those who have been violated.

In his message, the Governor expressed that this project is the result of a long journey, but also of teamwork to provide dignified spaces for the smallest Yucatecans and in complicated situations.

Accompanied by the President of the Casa Otoch Board of Trustees, Yuli Chapur Zahoul, Vila Dosal pointed out that in approximately two months the moving of the girls, boys, and young people to the new facilities will begin, since at that time the final details of the work will be attended to. and furniture.

In this context, the Governor recognized the work carried out by the Board of Trustees in favor of Yucatecan children, while thanking José Chapur Zahoul for the donation of furniture he is making to have the Otoch House ready for minors in the care of the State.

He explained that in Casa Otoch the areas for children and adolescents are separated, with personalized spaces according to their stage of life, and that the adolescent area also has a division for men and women, changes that do not exist in the current Caimede.

“We want girls, boys, and adolescents who come to Casa Otoch do not want to leave, we want them to find everything that life has not given them not only in these facilities but also in the staff that will treat them with the love and affection that they need and deserve,” said Vila Dosal.

On the other hand, the Governor said that work is being done on the Adoption Law and when the regular period of the State Congress begins, his Government will send it for approval since it is a priority to reduce the times for these processes and that children do not have to wait so long to join homes that fill them with love.

“I have nine months left as Governor and during this time we will be redoubling our efforts and working with energy to finish the projects and with the certainty that we will continue making the changes that are needed to continue transforming Yucatán,” stated Vila Dosal.

In her speech, federal representative Cecilia Patrón Laviada stated that true transformation occurs when we focus on early childhood.

He thanked Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal for teaming up with everyone and listening to the ideas for this project, which today is a reality, exceeding any expectations.

In turn, the director of the System for the Comprehensive Development of the Family (DIF) in Yucatán, Juan Gualberto Barea Canul, highlighted the effort and investment of the Government of Vila Dosal to make this new home a reality for the children and adolescents of the State.

The Casnnay ​​is located in the Caucel II subdivision, on land donated by the Mérida City Council to replace the current Comprehensive Care Center for Minors in Desamparo (Caimede), a building that was founded in 1994 and located in Jardines de la Nueva Mulsay, which is also overflowing, so the new facility will have the capacity to provide a more dignified home for minors.

This project consists of a total area of ​​more than 23 thousand square meters where there will be various areas for the development of girls, boys, and adolescents, having a capacity to house up to more than 250, which is double the current capacity.

Casa Otoch, in addition to having the basics, such as bedrooms, dining room, and kitchen, also has recreation areas for each age group, such as children’s playground, sports fields, swimming pool, library, amphitheater, orchard, gym, multipurpose room, stimulation, and entertainment activities.

Likewise, it will offer medical, psychological, legal, nutritional, and social work services for those who require them, while it will be a sustainable building, with large green areas, open spaces, natural ventilation and lighting, functional facilities, and low operating costs. and all the interior and exterior areas of the building are inclusive, adapted, and equipped for people with some type of disability, meaning that the entire building has universal accessibility.

In detail, there is a medical area, it has a nursing space, two offices, a pharmacy, and a psychology room with six care cubicles and coordination; the administration area is equipped with reception, meeting room, management, operations sub directorate, and another three coordination areas, legal, accountancy and one for assistants.

In the educational activities area, you can find the library, two workshops, a playroom and a garden; while the recreational area offers a natural grass soccer field and 7-a-side soccer court, a terrace, playground, amphitheater, multipurpose room and living areas depending on ages.

To guarantee the protection of minors, it will have a real-time video surveillance and monitoring system, always with a focus on the best interests of children, with coexistence areas appropriate to their ages, to assert their rights and fulfill their obligations.
