A taxi driver ran over his wife and killed her while repairs were being made to the car at the Gustavo A. Madero mayor’s office in Mexico City.
The man, 81 years old, and the 82-year-old woman, were on Montevideo Street and 22 de Agosto in the Lindavista neighborhood, carrying out mechanical tasks.
At one point the man mistakenly stepped on the accelerator causing the car to run over his wife, who was left under the vehicle.
Once the driver realized that he had hit his wife with his car, he got out of the vehicle to help her. However, when she did not react, he ended up calling the emergency services, which arrived in a matter of minutes.
Although the elderly woman suffered severe injuries, she still had vital signs, so relatives and neighbors placed ramps to free the woman. Once paramedics arrived and provided first aid, he sadly died.
The elderly couple was known in the area and they owned a nearby repair shop.
