As a result of the good economic dynamics that Yucatán is experiencing, investments will not stop in the region, since in the coming months at least five openings of companies or plants are expected, as well as the announcement of three new investments that will generate hundreds of jobs for the residents. Yucatecans announced the Secretariat of Economic Development and Labor ( Sefoet ).
The head of Sefoet, Ernesto Herrera Novelo, indicated that of the three announcements about new investments, one will focus on the agroindustrial sector, to export from the Progreso port to the East Coast of the United States and the Gulf Coast, in Houston, Texas.
Interviewed yesterday within the framework of the investment announcement by the company Mission Food México, he highlighted that at the national level, Yucatán is among the three states that gain nearshoring investments, along with Nuevo León and Coahuila, which will encourage the arrival of companies to continue.
He pointed out that important infrastructure works, such as the elevated viaduct, the expansion to 40 hectares of the Progreso Altura Port, and natural gas translate into competitiveness for those who come to invest and who can work without problems.
“The most difficult thing to conceptualize is investment in infrastructure, because it is not seen, but it is observed when companies arrive and jobs are generated with the virtuous circles of the economy, which is why we have placed a lot of emphasis on the fact that infrastructure, natural gas, roads and the Mayan train play for competitiveness in the south southeast,” he noted.
New companies for Yucatan
In an interview, the state official specified that the announcement of the three new companies would generate at least 2 thousand direct jobs, as well as 6 thousand indirect jobs, which will be a sign that investments will not stop in the entity, not even because of the ban. electoral.
He stressed that the fact that there is an election period soon will not mean that people do not need jobs or that the economy will stop, so work must be done to ensure that the current economic inertia remains for at least two more years. when those new companies that will be announced will be installed.
“In the following months we are going to have inaugurations of important projects, both in the interior of the state and in Mérida, I estimate that there will be at least five very important inaugurations and that they will be in the municipalities of the interior of the State, we are generating opportunities”, the state official continued
Regarding the expansion processes of the Altura port in Progreso, he shared that at the end of this month, the partial session of rights in favor of the state would be signed; He pointed out that at the same time, the dredging work is already being put out to tender, so construction will begin in a few weeks in that area.
