The president of the Association of Export Maquiladoras (Index), Alejandro Guerrero Lozano, said that world trade will have great benefits with the start of operations of the Maya and Transistmico trains.
Ships will no longer have to sail to Panama and cross the Canal to cross from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean or vice versa because the cargo will be able to disembark at the ports of Salina Cruz, Oaxaca, and transport them from that port to Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, or Progreso. for shipment to the East Coast of the United States, reducing logistics costs and cargo delivery time.
Guerrero Lozano affirmed that the export sector sees a palpable, real and important benefit in Yucatán.
“The rail connection through the Mayan and trans-seismic trains is a plus that we will have to bring new companies to Yucatan because exporters prioritize the logistics issue, since it represents a lot of money.”
The president of Index Yucatán acknowledged that the connection between the Mayan Train and the Transismic Train is not ready in the loading part. The first only provides passenger service, but when it is ready for cargo it will undoubtedly be a benefit for Yucatán.
