To strengthen relationships that allow the development of the sector it represents, the Yucatan Gastronomic Federation met with the Portuguese ambassador to Mexico, Manuel Carvalho to promote coordinated actions that favor the increase of tourism in the entity.
The president of the Yucatan Gastronomic Federation, Carlos Guillermo Aguirre Aguilar, highlighted the opportunity that this approach represents with the representative of Portugal in Mexico for the promotion of Yucatecan gastronomy in his nation.
“Through the flavors, smells, and colors that exalt the cuisine of Yucatan, we seek to encourage the increase of academic, gastronomic, and tourist links to the different destinations of the state, since each region has a unique and distinctive touch,” he stressed.
The business leader pointed out that at the meeting the Portuguese diplomat’s interest in visiting Yucatecan lands was raised to learn about the Mayan culture and its gastronomy.
This strategy to be undertaken, he noted, is part of the promotion plan for Yucatan and its magical towns in Europe, to encourage a greater flow of foreign visitors through the exquisite gastronomy, both typical and contemporary, which are presented as part of the tours in the new tourist products.
In this regard, he highlighted the coordination of work that is currently in place with the Yucatan Tourism Promotion Secretariat, to promote projects that attract a greater number of visitors to the entity.
This year, he explained, the federation has among its action agenda the strengthening of links with institutions, business organizations, and governments that can contribute to the development of companies in the gastronomic sector, especially those located in attractive places in the state, such as the new Magical Towns.
He considered it important to seek alliances that allow the development of better joint promotion strategies, personalization of experiences, and sustainability, as well as the professionalization and enrichment of destinations, preserving the values of our rich cultural and gastronomic heritage, to maintain them as the protagonists that captivate travelers who They want meaningful connections to the culinary world.
