So far in the administration of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador – from December 1, 2019 to February 21, 2024 – 180,030 intentional homicides have been committed in Mexico, according to the daily report ‘MX: The War in Numbers’, by T-ResearchMX.

The report recorded that in this government a homicide is committed every 15 minutes, that is, an average of 95 a day, based on statistics from the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, as well as the records of the Federal and State prosecutors’ offices.

The statistics show a slight decrease of 20 percent in the number of homicides in 2023 compared to 2018—the last year of Enrique Peña Nieto’s government; However, the current administration exceeds the number of victims of violence by dozens.
