Within the framework of World Transplant Day, the Yucatán State Transplant Center (Ceetry) of the Ministry of Health (SSY) reported in a statement that the entity performed 76 kidney transplants during 2023.

Through this historically unprecedented achievement, the State government maintains continuity to promote the culture of organ and tissue donation and recognizes the generosity of those families who have decided to donate the organs or tissues of their loved ones, saving lives.

The director of Ceetry, Jorge Martínez Ulloa Torres, pointed out that this achievement not only represents significant medical advances in the state but also the generosity and solidarity of the Yucatecan population who have opted for organ donation, offering a second chance at life to those who need it.

Ulloa Torres said that each of these transplants is more than a number, they are stories of hope and resilience.

Each transplanted kidney not only implies an improvement in the recipient’s quality of life but also a tribute to the memory of those who, through donation, have left a legacy of generosity.

He then emphasized that thanks to the joint efforts of health professionals, donors, recipients, and the community in general, Yucatán has shown that awareness about the importance of organ donation is constantly growing.

“This achievement inspires us to continue working together to raise awareness and ensure more lives can be transformed through the generosity of giving.” “On this World Transplant Day we invite the community to reflect on the momentous importance of organ donation and to join us in celebrating this remarkable achievement. Let us continue to move towards a future where hope flourishes from solidarity and generosity.”
