The Pheasants Robotics Club of the Metropolitan Technological University (UTM) obtained its pass for the second consecutive year for the VEX Robotics World Championship tournament, which will be held in Dallas, Texas, from April 25 to May 3.
The young people are part of the Mexican delegation made up of 11 teams in the VEX U category dedicated to the participation of universities, according to a press release.
The above was achieved after its outstanding participation in the XV Robotics and STEM Skills Championship, held in Chihuahua last month, in which two UTM teams participated. This meeting brought together representatives from several states of the Mexican Republic.
In that edition, the Yucatecan students won the Think Award, which recognizes the most effective and consistent use of coding techniques and programming design solutions to solve the challenge of the game, as well as skills in effective communication, teamwork, and professionalism.
Upon the arrival of the official letter of passage to the international tournament, the rector of the UTM, Isabel Rodríguez Heredia, expressed her joy and pride for the young people and teachers who make up the Robotics Club, in which the development of skills that They strengthen their training and also encourage the participation of women in technological fields.
Then he recalled that the members belong to careers in the Industrial Division, directed by engineer Carlos Enrique Espinosa Atoche, and are trained in the Collaborative Robotics Laboratory of the University, with the support and coordination of teachers Luis Ayil Andrés and Luis Mendoza Pinto. Likewise, he highlighted that to be part of this club, students manage their time, resources, and materials to build the robots and program them for their operation, all without neglecting their regular class schedule. The VEX Robotics World Championship 2024 will be from April 25 to May 3.
