The woman who died yesterday afternoon in an accident on the Mérida-Cancún highway was identified as Karla Eugenia Gamboa. She was the owner of Public Notary Office number 108 based in Umán. Her 21-year-old son also lost his life with her.

The lawyer had a long career as a Notary Public, and a few months ago she was interviewed for the news program +Novedades interview in which she spoke extensively.

A serious accident occurred on the aforementioned road, at kilometer 167. The notary was traveling as a passenger in a Chevrolet Yukon Denali that was driven by her husband Enrique “N”, along with their two sons of 21 and 15 years of age.

The driver lost control of the steering wheel, was projected to the right and collided at high speed with the metal fence that delimits the road.

The notary and her eldest son died instantly. The father and the other son suffered severe injuries and were urgently taken to the General Hospital of Valladolid.

Gamboa Burgos was a prominent notary public who was based in the municipality of Umán, and who was in favor of the initiative to reform the State Notarial Law, which sought to increase the number of these professionals for better attention to the population.

The death of Karla Eugenia and her son has shocked the Yucatecan society and members of the real estate sector, in which the lawyer was well known and erspected.
