A video on social media shows a group of taxi drivers beating up a tourist in front of the Coco Bongo in Playa del Carmen. The situation would have occurred in the Centro Gonzalo Guerrero neighborhood, in Playa del Carmen, where the nightclub is located.
The video went viral on the night of Monday, March 4th. However, the situation would have occurred over the weekend. The attack allegedly took place after the tourist couple refused to pay a high fee for the service.
According to witnesses, it all started with an argument between the driver and the victim. The fight escalated to the point where they started to exchange blows, which is why the taxi driver involved received help from other colleagues who belong to the same transportation service coompany.
While the victim’s partner screams and tries to cover him from the blows, the taxi drivers kick and the man remains lying on the ground, apparently unconscious.

There is a video circulating online that shows public service drivers using objects around them to hit the tourists. The authorities have not yet made any statements about the incident, and the current situation of the attacked tourists is unknown. However, many people on social media are urging for an investigation to take place.
