During the evening of this Sunday, March 24, more than 10 thousand citizens took to the streets of Campeche to demand the resignation of Marcela Muñoz, Secretary of Citizen Protection and Security, due to workplace violence, shortcomings, and deficiencies, as well as irregularities and mismanagement in the corporation.

In the march, that started on the boulevard to go to the Government Palace, the protesters also demanded that Governor Layda Sansores resign, given the refusal of the state president to remove Marcela Muñoz from office, the main demand of the police and the citizenship.

The contingent shouted slogans for Marcela Muñoz and Governor Layda Sansores to resign and for President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to realize that this movement belongs to the police and the citizens who are fed up with the insecurity resulting from the ineffectiveness of the state authorities.

The state police completed nine days of work stoppage this Sunday and have the facilities of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) of Campeche in their possession. Only about 10 patrol cars have been circulating since then, policing the city.

Motorcyclists and cyclists joined the march with signs calling for the dismissal of Marcela Muñoz and Governor Layda Sansores.
