Femicide numbers dropped significantly in January 2024 at the national level compared to previous years.

However, in Yucatán the number was zero, maintaining the trend of past years regarding this crime.

According to the report of the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System corresponding to January 2024, the most recent official report, the State of Mexico reported 10 cases, Mexico City 6, Sonora 4 and Aguascalientes 1. On the other hand, Yucatán and Campeche did not register any cases.

According to a statement, these data reinforce the perception of Yucatán as the safest state in Mexico, when it comes to gender violence.

The official indicators speak for themselves, showing the number of femicides per 100,000 women in each state.

The security report published on March 8 (8M) does not include Yucatán among the statistics of intentional homicides.

On the contrary, in the neighboring state of Quintana Roo, governed by Morena, 10 cases were reported in January alone, of which 1 was perpetrated in Cozumel, 8 in Tulum and 1 in Benito Juárez (Cancun).
