The Yucatecan student Andrés Eduardo Solís Cuevas obtained a perfect average with a score of 100 in the Doctorate in Mathematical Sciences, taught at the Faculty of Mathematics of the Autonomous University of Yucatán (UADY).

In an interview, the young man recalled that when he was in high school he did not even imagine that he could get involved in this type of career, because he considered that he was never an outstanding student in areas such as physics, chemistry or mathematics, however, at the end of his education middle school, saw a change and considered this branch.

“When I graduated to bachelor’s degree, I focused on Civil Engineering, I started with it, but once I was in college I realized that what interested me most was Theoretical Physics, so during the third semester I made the change to Physics Engineering. That was the beginning of my career as a Physics engineer, and although it was a challenge, I have never regretted my decision,” he said.
Research, the inspiration for Andrés

However, Andrés was not left alone with that and decided to get involved in Mathematical Sciences, through the Doctorate, which, he stated, is a program with various virtues because much of the time is focused on research, organizational activities and aspects that contribute to the training of a future researcher.

Looking back, the UADY graduate recognized that taking this postgraduate degree was a memorable experience because, when it started in 2020, he did not think he should change the way of studying and learning, but the Health Contingency due to Covid-19 changed The education.

Despite this, four years later, Andrés Solís does not regret the decision he made, both in choosing his bachelor’s degree and his PhD, since he overcame the insecurity and indecision he had about not being able to do a mathematics project. pure Today he feels fulfilled.

Furthermore, he specified, this achievement is also due to his parents who supported him from the beginning.

Before concluding, he invited young people not to be afraid of mathematics or exact sciences, to choose their degree wisely and, especially, not to be afraid of making changes, “it’s all just about doing something that you leave with.” to feel happy.”
