State authorities confirmed that the women found dead in a hotel located in the north of Mérida took their own lives.
The cause of death of both women was mechanical asphyxiation due to airway occlusion that they caused themselves.
Although the authorities did not give more details, according to data obtained through police sources, it was known that in the room where the bodies were, as reported at the time, two posthumous letters and containers of medication were found, so that the ingestion of the latter would have caused the death of the women.
Both women were from the state of Aguascalientes and in their respective letters, they indicated that they had terminal cancer.
One of the women, identified as R. L. A., was 71 years old and the other was 60. So far they have not been able to fully identify the second victim, so there is no certainty that there is a family relationship or a relationship between them.
