As every year, Mérida commemorates the 67th anniversary of Pedro Infante’s death

Everything is ready to remember, like every year, the “Idol of Mexico”, Pedro Infante Cruz, on yet another mournful anniversary, after the unfortunate plane accident he suffered and where he lost his life on April 15, 1957, in this city, so that the neighborhood committee of the area where the plane fell has prepared a series of activities starting today to remember the actor and singer.

Luis Canto García, president of the organizing committee, announced that the events began yesterday with a ride by the Cicloturixes Association, from Santa Ana Park, to the site of the death of the renowned late artist.

“It is a preamble to what will be the stellar day, to warm up the engines,” he said.

“Since 1993 we started organizing these events without knowing that this was going to grow every year, so much so that we managed to get a park made for us at the request of the inhabitants of the area who like Pedro Infante, they are Infantistas,” he added.

Pedro Infante is considered an icon of the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema and one of the greatest exponents of ranchera music. He participated in more than 60 films and recorded more than 300 songs of various genres: waltzes, rancheras, boleros, and cha-chachás. (Photo: social networks)

On Monday the 15th, at 8:00 a.m., there will be a mass officiated by Fr. Raymundo Pérez Bojórquez, from the municipality of Tekit, but who is present every year.

Afterwards, a wreath will be laid, followed by the traditional breakfast and an artistic evening at noon.
