Progreso has a new, modern, state-of-the-art hyperbaric chamber that will begin operating next week to provide medical care to fishermen suffering from decompression, as well as for the treatment of people suffering from diseases such as diabetes or those with burns.
Progreso, Yucatán, April 18, 2024.- At the Progreso Health Center with Expanded Services where the new hyperbaric chamber was installed, Vila Dosal verified the operation of this innovative equipment, which is the largest and most comfortable model in the world because it minimizes anxiety due to claustrophobia, has continuous observation of the patient, as well as with dual speakers for constant monitoring, the table that can be reclined and allows individual treatment of patients. The equipment counts with an international certification and health registration from Cofepris.
This pieceof equipment, which the Governor supervised together with the head of the Ministry of Health (SSY) Mauricio Sauri Vivas and the mayor, Roger Gómez Ortegón, will allow a greater number of free services available in hyperbaric oxygenation care, as well as healing and wounds.
All of this, for the benefit of 97,592 people who do not have social security not only in Progreso but in municipalities such as Telchac Puerto, Telchac Pueblo, Yobaín, Sinanché, Motul, Ixil, Hunucmá, Dzemul, Chicxulub Pueblo, Baca, Dzilam de Bravo and Dzilam Gonzalez.
The services that this hyperbaric chamber will provide are management of patients with decompression syndrome, diabetic foot, chronic wounds, sudden deafness, carbon monoxide poisoning, crush injuries, bedsores, leg and foot ulcers, acute thermal burns and skin grafts or compromised flaps, among others.
For its installation, adaptation work was carried out in an area of the Health Center with Expanded Progreso Services, with the demolition of walls, change of doors, floors, gates, lighting, painting, institutional image, installation of ceilings and drywall walls , adaptation of the sterilization area, modification of air conditioning installations and hydrosanitary installations, adaptation of voice and data services, connection for the manifold and installation of oxygen. In total, more than 5.2 million pesos were invested between the new equipment and the construction work for its installation.
