As part of the rehabilitation carried out by the State Government in the main square, the Mérida City Council removed for safekeeping all the furniture and equipment that was in that space, including the green wooden benches and the confidant chairs, commonly known as “Tu y Yo”(you and me).

The City Council carried out an inventory of these public elements, which were transferred to the facilities of the Municipal Public Services Directorate where they will be given comprehensive maintenance while their relocation to another space is determined.

The municipal government, in coordination with the Government of Yucatán, carried out the removal of the urban infrastructure following safety protocols to avoid damaging both the benches and the confidant chairs, and thus be able to continue with the remodeling works of the Plaza Grande.

In this way, the City Council reaffirms its commitment to the population to take care of the cultural heritage owned by citizens, as well as to promote more and better public spaces that promote social and harmonious coexistence, in addition to contributing to equitable growth throughout the municipality.
