A company, housewives, farmers and a professional entrepreneur, among others, have a period of 15 business days to demonstrate that they are the owners before Sedatu.

The Mexican government expropriated 38 privately owned properties for the Maya Train Project in Yucatán: 15 in Chocholá, eight in Umán, six in Tixpéual, three in Mérida, three in Kanasín and three in Cacalchén.

On Monday, April 8, 2024, the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF), published for the second time, to notify the unlocated owners of the lots, the declaration of the expropriation of 32,845.76 square meters (m2), which correspond to 93 privately owned properties in Campeche, Yucatán and Quintana Roo where “public infrastructure works related to the Maya Train project” will be built. The first publication was made last Friday, April 5.

On this occasion, the Secretariat of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development (Sedatu) of Mexico informs that natural or legal persons who prove and justify a legal right or interest in these properties can consult the topographic plans of the properties and the declaration in its Legal Affairs Unit, located on Avenida Heroica Escuela Naval Militar No. 669 of the Presidents Ejidales Second Section neighborhood in Coyoacán, Mexico City, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday to Friday.

In addition, they are given 15 business days from the date when they were notified (if they were located) or from the second publication in the DOF (for those who were not located) to contact the Sedatu Legal Affairs Unit and present their evidence.

The land will be occupied for the works, says Sedatu, after an agreement is signed with the owners of these expropriated properties.
