Principal Leidy “N”, of the Technical Secondary School 14, was suspended from her position after allegedly ordering the poisoning of seven dogs that lived on campus.
The teacher and the mayors covered expenses for appointments with the veterinarian, sterilizations, and feeding of the animals, even the students used to spend time with them, so their deaths caused shock in the student community.
For this reason, Lucy López, leader of the Animal Welfare Foundation, filed a complaint with the Attorney General’s Office.
“We are waiting for the investigations to conclude, and the file to be passed to the Judge to issue a sentence,” said the leader of the Animal Welfare Foundation.
He also added that they hope that action will be taken against the people who were involved in the killing of the dogs on that campus. The investigation will also determine if the school’s vice principal is involved and a Physical Education teacher, who allegedly provided the poison to kill the dogs.
The activist assured that this case would lay the groundwork for punishing people who commit acts of animal cruelty in Tizimín, “so that people think twice before attacking the lives of animals.”
