Two people were seriously injured and a destroyed car was the result of a morning accident that occurred this Thursday, April 4th, on the Mérida-Campeche highway, after a truck hit the aforementioned vehicle from behind.

The driver of a Toyota sedan-type vehicle was traveling towards Mérida, but when he reached the Tanil bridge, he slowed down due to the traffic caused by a police checkpoint, however, a truck that was behind it did not take its proper distance and hit the car.

The trailer driver was distracted for a few seconds and went over the car, dragging it for several meters until it got off the road, ending up in the central median with the large truck on the back of the Toyota.

Fortunately, the people inside the crashed car survived, but suffered serious injuries, as they were trapped in the wreckage.

Agents from the Ministry of Public Security and firefighters arrived at the site and were in charge of rescuing the passengers of the Toyota.

Once the two people were released, they were treated by paramedics who provided them with first aid and rushed them to a hospital, as they had several fractured bones and serious injuries.

It was reported that the driver of the trailer was arrested at the scene.
