Environmental activist Raúl Aldama Gavilán, part of the group Sélvame del Tren, exhibited photographs and videos to document and denounce that the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) and the National Fund for the Promotion of Tourism (Fonatur) “did not comply with taking steps to fauna on the Tren Maya route”, and they put cyclone mesh in Section 5, which is a danger because it prevents the various species from accessing water and food.
The message was shared by several other environmentalists, who emphasize the seriousness of the fauna, which lies in the fact that they placed cyclone mesh, which hinders the passage of animals in one of the flagship projects of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
And just on Monday, May 20, the video of a puma that was spotted crossing the tracks of the Tren Maya, right in section 5 of the construction, in Quintana Roo, went viral, which generated controversy and concern among wildlife defenders, who questioned safe wildlife crossings for this and other endangered species.

“Fonatur and Sedena did not comply with putting wildlife crossings in the Tren Maya, now they fence the road surrounding the tracks and access to the cenotes with mesh, which is even worse! The animals will not be able to cross or drink water. Are you going to do something?”
In the video dated May 23 that Raúl Aldama Gavilán exhibits, it is observed that parallel to the railroad tracks, they installed cyclone mesh, which prevents the passage of species in this project highlighted by several omissions in terms of the environment.
Previously, the environmentalist has participated in the documentation of the progress of the construction of Section 5 of the project to verify that mitigation proposals presented in the Environmental Impact Statement (MIA) are not being met, among other acts that have been exposed as violating the environmental regulation.
