Another yacht catches fire in the port of Yucalpetén

A yacht burned completely on Monday, May 13th within the facilities of a Commercial Marina in the port of Yucalpetén, municipality of Progreso.

The incident happened after a short circuit when the boat’s skipper was trying to sail out to sea.

The occupants were immediately evacuated from the luxury boat while attempts were made to put out the flames with extinguishers. Unfortunately, the fire spread very quickly, so the intervention of firefighters was necessary.

The Marina was closed while maneuvers were carried out to put out the fire.

It turned out that the situation did not leave any people injured and only material damage was reported.

Because these facilities are private, the case has been handled in secrecy.

This is the second incident that has occurred in recent weeks in Yucalpetén involving yachts or luxury boats, since just a couple of weeks ago members of two families were injured after a yacht exploded after loading gasoline at the exit of the port of Yucalpetén shelter.
