On Wednesday, May 29, the candidate for governor of Yucatán for the Let’s keep making history coalition, Joaquín Huacho Díaz Mena, suffered a car accident near the municipality of Seyé. Through networks, the politician confirmed that he is generally fine and that as a result of the mishap he only received a few blows, however, he will be hospitalized for a few days.
“After the rally at Chemax and on my way to Mérida, the vehicle in which I was traveling suffered an accident. Unfortunately some members of my team are injured. Regarding my condition, I inform you that I feel fine. I will keep you updated,” published the Morena, PT and Green Party candidate.
In a second message published on social networks, via audio, the candidate said he was in good spirits and asked his followers to go out and vote on June 2.
Huacho was returning from his campaign closing tour that he carried out in the municipalities of Kanasín, Tizimín, Valladolid and Chemax and it was upon returning to Mérida that the truck in which he was traveling suffered a serious accident.
Both Huacho and his team are under medical evaluation and it was later known that he will have to undergo a surgical procedure.
In this regard, presidential candidate Claudia Sheinbaum reported that she contacted Huacho and sent him a message of encouragement.
“We are informed that our fellow candidate for governor of Yucatán @huachodiazmena suffered a car accident. I have spoken with him and his family and fortunately, everyone is fine. Cheer up, this June 2 we are going to win Yucatán,” Sheinbaum published on social networks.
This Wednesday is the last day for candidates to carry out a political campaign before the electoral ban begins. Huacho had activities scheduled in the city of Mérida and the municipality of Maní, but these have been canceled.
