The Fifth Ordinary Session of the Security Council of the municipality of Progreso was held, in which Mayor Roger Gómez Ortegón made an attentive call to all the corporations related to security to join forces and promote comprehensive actions that contribute to the prevention and timely attention of crimes, in favor of a safer municipality, both by land and by sea.
The meeting was attended by authorities and representatives of the SSP, the Attorney General’s Office, the National Guard, the XIII Naval Zone, the National Migration Institute, ASIPONA, the Regional Captaincy of Puerto Progreso, SEPASY, the National Chamber of the Fishing and Aquaculture Industry, the Construction Board of Peace in Yucatán, the surveillance committees of La Caleta and El Playón, as well as the municipal agencies of Public Security, Civil Protection, Fisheries and Ecological Police.
The mayor spoke about how important it is for each area to attend and work in coordination to respond promptly in matters of scurity, even more now that the municipality has a considerable number of inhabitants and visitors, which is why he urged the implementation of comprehensive actions that ensure a safer environment in the coastal strip and the rest of the municipality
The Mayor made emphasis in issues such as poaching, illicit activities by foreigners or other actions that endanger people’s lives such as motorists exceeding the speed limit on the Mérida-Progreso federal highway.
Finally, the councilor thanked each member for their assistance in addressing each of the points, and made an attentive call to citizens to contribute to these actions, reporting possible crimes or situations that require intervention by the authorities.
