In the port of Progreso, the effects on the drinking water service continue, resulting from the constant blackouts suffered by various sectors of Mérida, which affect the areas where the various stations supply the municipality.
On Friday, May 10, the Progreso Municipal Drinking Water and Sewage System (Smapap) announced that power outages continue to affect the supply of the vital liquid.
Now, the problem focuses mainly on Chicxulub Puerto and the east of the municipal seat. As for Progreso, residents of the area said that they have been without water for five days since they have not had it in their homes since last Monday.
In previous days, Smapap explained that these effects occur because the water collection areas in Sierra Papacal, Chicxulub, Temozón, and Flamboyanes do not have electricity.
Due to the above, the system has gone through complications in pumping water to the residents of Progreso.
The agency indicated that it maintains constant communication with the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) and has made the corresponding reports so that, to the extent possible, it continues to provide its service to the population.
