The blockade of the hotel zone by the members of the Madres Buscadoras de Quintana Roo collective began at eight pm on Tuesday, May 28th, due to the lack of results from the FGE in the case of a minor who was allegedly the victim of sexual abuse.

Ana after almost 18 hours, the Madres Buscadoras de Quintana Roo collective unblocked one of the lanes at the entrance to the Cancun hotel zone that they occupied to protest against omissions by the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE).

María Dolores Patrón Pat, president of the group, stated that the municipal government of Benito Juárez committed to providing security with fences andagents from the Secretariat of Citizen Security. At the same time, Municipal Transit Police will carry out filters from kilometer 0.5 of the hotel zone to the height from Puerto Cancún to guarantee the safety of those who maintain the partial blockade of the road.

In addition, a representative of the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) promised to review the investigation files on two cases of alleged sexual abuse against minors, as well as one more of custody.

However, the interviewee commented that this blockade and the one in front of the courts on Nichupté Avenue will be maintained until the dismissal of Nataly Robertos, the Sexual Crimes Prosecutor, who is accused of alleged omissions and has supposedly benefited the accused. in such cases, even though it no longer serves them.

Also, to completely free both avenues, the Searching Mothers of Quintana Roo demand compliance with the arrest warrant against the alleged sexual aggressor of a minor under five years of age.

Patron Pat considered that the FGE should resolve these cases to completely free Nichupté Avenue and the hotel zone of Cancún.

For his part, Antonio Riveroll Ribbon, general secretary of the City Council, said that this partial closure ends a few meters after the entrance that connects the hotel zone with Puerto Cancún, since after this point the two lanes are free to access the hotel zone.
