The maximum temperatures expected in Mérida will range between 40 and 42 degrees Celsius.

In the beginning of May, Yucatán will face higher average temperatures compared to previous years, indicated meteorology expert Juan Vázquez Montalvo, from the Institutional Committee for the Attention of Extreme Meteorological Phenomena (Ciafeme) of the Autonomous University of Yucatán (Uady).

In April 2024, the average maximum temperature reached 40 degrees Celsius, surpassing the records of the previous year, which was considered the hottest on record.

The meteorologist pointed out that the maximum temperatures expected in Mérida will range between 40 and 42 degrees Celsius, while on the coast temperatures of 36 to 38 degrees Celsius are expected.

In other areas of the State, such as the east, southeast and northeast, temperatures between 37 and 39 degrees Celsius will be reached, while the rest of the state will experience temperatures of 39 to 41 degrees Celsius.

The sky will be mostly clear to partly cloudy in the south, with predominant winds from the east and southeast in Mérida and the interior, and from the east and northeast on the coast.

A thermal sensation of up to 52 degrees Celsius is expected and minimum temperatures will range between 24 and 26 degrees Celsius, which will mean high temperatures even in the morning.

These conditions will remain until May 15, and will persist until the beginning of the rainy season.
