The Symphony Orchestra of the University of the Arts of Yucatán (UNAY), directed by the outstanding baton of Alejandro Basulto, will offer a concert to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the University of the Arts of Yucatán, on May 2 at 7 p.m., and will take place in the Concert Hall of the Palacio de la Música – National Center of Mexican Music.
During this special event, audiences will be transported on a musical journey through a careful selection of classic and contemporary works, designed to captivate the senses and commemorate two decades of academic and artistic excellence.
The first part of the program will offer an unparalleled experience with the interpretation of two masterpieces. Starting with the exciting “Symphony No. 5, op. 67” by Ludwig van Beethoven, known for its emotional depth and powerful energy, which will captivate each viewer from the first measure.
Continuing with an iconic piece of the piano repertoire, the “Piano Concerto No. 23 K. 488” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, in its movements “Allegro”, “Adagio” and “Allegro Assai”. This magnificent performance will feature the special participation of pianist Gerardo Rosado Romero, who will captivate the audience with his skill and passion for the piano keys.
The second part of the program promises to transport the audience through an exciting musical journey, with the presentation of the work “Overture in C major” by Fanny Hensel-Mendelssohn, a piece with an enveloping melody and rich harmony, which will delight the ears of attendees while immersing them in a world of sonic beauty.
Next, there will be a vibrant interpretation of “Tierra de temporal” by José Pablo Moncayo, a work that pays tribute to Mexican cultural roots and captivates with its passionate rhythm and colorful folklore.
The musical evening will culminate with the performance of two masterpieces by Giuseppe Verdi: “Va, Pensiero” and “Brindisi”. These pieces will be magnified by the brilliant voices of soprano soloist Ana Cecilia Herrera Can and tenor soloist Andrés Fernando García Ramírez, who will offer a memorable and emotional closing to this unique evening of music and art.
Tickets for this unique musical experience are on sale from Wednesday to Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the venue, for 150 and 100 pesos for members of the UNAY community. They will also be available up to two hours before the start of the concert.
