5 feet long crocodile caught in the streets of Tixcocob

Residents of 26-A Street (between 35 and 37) in the municipality of Tixcocob received a tremendous scare when they found a one-and-a-half meter (5 feet) long crocodile at their doorstep.

The encounter took place on the night of Friday, June 21, when residents of Tixcocob heard their dog barking insistently in a strange way.

Minutes later, a food delivery man arrived noticed the reptile, and informed the family.

They immediately notified the municipal police and the officers took on the task of capturing the animal.

The specimen was protected and immediately handed over to the staff of the Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat), for a prompt release into its natural habitat.
