A car falls into the Chelem Lagoon

A vehicle ended up in the swamp on the old road to Chelem, a thousand meters from that town at the entrance to Progreso.

The accident did not cause serious injuries to the driver, but it did give him a good scare.

As far as we could tell, the driver was dozing off and this caused him to be unable to control his vehicle, which went off the road right in an area where there was no vegetation around the road.

The car practically “flew” over the water and fell into the swamp, ending up half-sunk.

Municipal Police officers learned of what had happened and assisted the driver, who was not injured.

Later, a crane was needed to remove the vehicle from the place where it ended up.
