An elderly woman is rescued from a flooded house in Tizimín

An elderly woman was rescued from a house that flooded on the afternoon of Thursday, June 13, when the rain unleashed its force on Tizimín for more than two hours.

From 3 to 5 in the afternoon, the torrential downpour created difficulties for those who left work and others struggled to return home after work.

The Municipal Police intervened to close roads due to the accumulation of water. However, most people were happy because the rain helped to lower the temperature in the region.

Knowing that during the rainy season, there are streets that flood, Municipal Police officers began a tour and closed several streets to avoid cars getting stuck.

According to the official report of the Municipal Police, restriction tapes were placed on around 15 streets, including the area that floods every year in Tizimín’s “Los Aguacates” neighborhood.

In the Plaza de los Cenotes, where dozens of cones were placed at the stops of the Va y Ven transport, these signs were washed away by the rain and some agents rescued them and placed them back in the places where they were.

Shortly after 6 p.m., officers rescued a 90-year-old woman, identified as Francisca Sansores Basto, from a property in the Ocho Calles neighborhood, where the water level reached about 90 centimeters high. Damage to the electrical system was also reported in “Los Aguacates”, due to a falling tree. There were no people injured.
