State Police officers arrested a person, originally from Cuba, on the Mérida-Progreso highway, accused of stabbing an employee of the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE).
The incident occurred at the door of a convenience store located on 19th Street by 20th in the port of Progreso, where the employee of the state-owned company and the Cuban allegedly began to argue.
After the argument, the Cuban allegedly pulled out a knife and wounded the CFE employee in the head, back and neck, and then fled aboard a Mazda truck.
Paramedics from the Mexican Red Cross, Progreso branch, arrived at the scene, treated the injured man, and took him to the hospital.
The police officers carried out an operation and arrested the alleged aggressor on the Mérida-Progreso highway.
The place was cordoned off by Municipal and State Police officers, while personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office took charge of the corresponding proceedings.
