The State Executive Committee of the PAN announced that its candidate, Cecilia Patrón Laviada, won the mayoral elections in Merida, beating her closest competitor, Rommel Pacheco, the candidate of Morena.

(Merida Yuc. – Times Media Mexico) According to IEPAC’s quick count, Cecilia Patrón Laviada of the PAN, PRI, and Nueva Alianza coalition has a wide lead for mayor of Mérida with 92,254 votes. Rommel Pacheco came in second place with 63,494 votes, and Gerardo Ocampo, Movimiento ciudadano, obtained 11,303 votes. So far, 1,679 of the 2,974 tally sheets captured have been counted.

An announcement was made at the Fiesta Americana Hotel before numerous media representatives; Cecilia assured that she had reliable information and the numbers that gave her a certain victory. The state president of the PAN, Asís Cano Cetina, said that Cecilia Patrón is already “the virtual municipal president” with a wide lead over her Morena opponent. Cecilia said she was grateful for the support and trust of the people of Merida.

Information from the Municipal Committee revealed that Cecilia had maintained a wide lead over her opponent from Morena, PT, and PVEM, Rommel Pacheco. The former congresswoman pointed out that she has the elements and tallies that allow her to announce her safe victory, among them numerous tally sheets, the number of representatives, and even a quick count.

She once dreamed of governing the Meridians and being able to help many people, especially those most in need. “I am very excited, very grateful, and we are here to have this right and also this obligation, which was to vote.

The Panistas celebrated the triumphs of their candidates last night with an event at the Monumento a la Patria. In his speech, Patrón Laviada called for unity after the elections, emphasizing the importance of working together. She thanked everyone involved in the campaign and the citizens who actively participated in the electoral process. Cecilia promised to work and maintain a constant presence in the streets of Merida to interact directly with Meridians. Patrón Laviada emphasized the need to continue Merida’s economic growth, noting that it is fundamental to combat poverty and inequality. These priorities seek to maintain the city’s economic development and ensure that the benefits of such growth reach all sectors of society.

In the area of security, he pledged to keep Merida safe for families, stressing that security is one of the main concerns of his administration. This commitment to security seeks to create an environment where citizens can live and work without fear. The high level of citizen participation in the elections reached more than 70% -according to INE- and was highlighted as an example at the national level. During her speech, the virtual mayor thanked the local deputies, the candidates for federal deputies, and senators for their efforts during the campaign. She also emphasized the empowerment of women. She pointed out that the arrival of a woman as mayor represents all Meridian women and underscored her commitment to protecting and promoting women’s rights in Merida.
