Chetumal under water after heavy rains hit the region

As part of the National Public Security Strategy, in Quintana Roo, members of the National Guard (GN) activated the Plan of Assistance to Society in Cases of Emergency (Plan GN-A), in the face of the intense rainfall that caused flooding.

In coordination with authorities from all three levels of government, the National Guard evacuated families whose homes were affected by the
heavy rains were recorded yesterday in the state capital.

Aboard official vehicles, the citizens were transferred to the temporary shelter set up in the Las Casitas neighborhood in Chetumal.

The members of the National Guard provided support for the setting up of a shelter in the “Eva Sámano” Technological High School Studies Center.

They also carried out security patrols to support residents who were forced to evacuate their homes, to avoid acts of robbery and
prevent the commission of a crime.

In addition, they assisted in the clearing of the main avenues that were impassable due to the flood and carried out dredging and mud removal work in affected homes.
