The Maya Train was the main topic during the third joint tour of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and the virtual president-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum.
Together they cut the ribbon to inaugurate the Edzná Archaeological Museum, in Campeche.
Before talking about the train and archaeology, the President confirmed that he is happy with the electoral result and the continuity of the transformation project, especially after the virtual president-elect mentioned that she will maintain AMLO’s policies in her government.
AMLO confirmed that the 1,554-kilometer circuit of the Maya Train will be completely inaugurated at the end of August or mid-September.
Here they talked about what the Mayan indigenous nation, with its beauty, and its deep and ancient culture, contributes to the world and that we now know to a large extent thanks to the discoveries that have been achieved during the construction of the Mayan Train.
This work, Claudia Sheinbaum pointed out, shows that the State can promote development, public and private investment.
It means reducing inequality, giving the southeast the same possibility of development as other areas of the country. It conceives the inclusion and development of communities, vindicates the indigenous peoples of the present. Here is the greatness of Mexico, which arises from the great civilizations prior to the arrival of the West and which resist and are venerated today; The Mayan Train is a great work and is also a great symbol, telling the whole world that we Mexicans have been here and are proud of our history.
The Mayan Train will continue
In the next government, these projects will continue, they will do so under the mandate of the people.
“We are going to give continuity to the Mayan Train, to the justice plans, to continue rescuing these beautiful archaeological sites, the attention and construction of our destiny. To our diverse and happy people, because on June 2, 2024 there was a mandate: with the people everything without the people nothing, prosperity is shared or it will not be,” said Sheinbaum.
The President concluded by emphasizing that another thing that makes him very happy is seeing the participation of young people, of the new generations, in the transformation of the country.
“This is a stellar moment in the history of our country. We are laying the foundations for the Fourth Transformation of public life in Mexico, thinking about the new generations and with great optimism because if I express to you that I am happy, happy, happy it is also because many young people are participating in this movement, there is a generational change. And now this participation of young people in the elections has also been recorded.”
They especially recognized the workers who have built both the hotel that is in progress and the museum of this archaeological zone; as well as the archaeologists and scientists in charge of rescuing the vestiges and findings found along the train’s journey, many of them specialists who were here as special guests.
