Five days after the elections, there is still no winner in the Progreso Municipality, the electoral authority has not yet delivered a certificate of elected mayor.

As of Friday, June 7, five days after the elections, there is still no winner in the Progreso Municipality, the electoral authority has not yet delivered a certificate of elected mayor, and uncertainty continues among the inhabitants and supporters of both sides PAN and Morena who remained on guard near the municipal IEPAC facilities awaiting the results.

In an unexpected turn and for the first time in an electoral process in this municipality, all the packages for the municipal elections on Sunday, June 2 were transferred to the facilities of the Electoral District Council located on 104th Street between 79 and 81 in the Juan Montalvo neighborhood for a new vote count.

The counting and tallying session began on Wednesday, June 5 at 8 a.m. at the municipal electoral council located on 64th Street between 75 and 77 in the Ismael García neighborhood. What appeared to be a process that would take about 24 hours, lasted until two in the morning on Friday, when only 62 polling stations were counted. The preliminary results gave Morena, represented by Dr. Raúl Alvarado Naal, a lead of 185 votes, but the PAN representatives did not accept it; they asked for a new recount on the grounds that there were 1,300 null votes.
