Heavy to torrential rains are expected for this Wednesday, June 19th

MERIDA, YUC. (Wednesday, June 19th, 2024).- The extensive circulation of Potential Tropical Cyclone One, which is located over the Gulf of Mexico, and the influence of the Central American Gyre to the south of the Peninsula, will lead to significant rains for this Wednesday, in addition to winds of around 60 km/h in coastal areas. In the state of Quintana Roo, flooding conditions could worsen, so it is recommended to take precautions.

Forecasts indicate that today torrential rains (more than 100 mm) are expected in Quintana Roo, intense rains (75 to 100 mm) in Yucatán, as well as heavy rains (25 to 50 mm) in Campeche and Tabasco.

The risk of urban and rural flooding will continue, particularly in Quintana Roo, where the heaviest rains would occur. Due to this, we recommend that you be aware of the notices issued by the authorities.

On the other hand, some sunny periods are estimated in areas of the peninsula, so maximum temperatures will generally be between 30 °C and 35 °C. The winds will blow from the East-Southeast component with maximum speeds of up to 55 km/h on the eastern coasts of the peninsula.
