Joaquin Diaz Mena discharged from the hospital

The candidate for Governor of Yucatán, Joaquín Díaz Mena, was discharged on Friday, May 31st, after suffering a spectacular accident while traveling with his team to Mérida.

Joaquín “Huacho” Díaz Mena was discharged tonight and left the Star Médica clinic: where he underwent surgery to reconstruct his right eyelid and cheekbone, after the road accident that occurred on Wednesday, May 29th.

In this accident, Diaz’s assistant Ana Cristina, and his driver Flavio were also injured. He explained that fortunately, he did not lose vision in his right eye, although the injuries could have been worse.

The accident occurred when they were returning to Mérida, after a tour in the east of the State; and near the exit to Seyé, they collided with a heavy transport vehicle.

Diaz Mena explained that moments before he had pushed the seat back so he could sleep on the journey. That saved his life, he explained.

Joaquín Díaz Mena left the clinic shortly before ten at night: he was taken in a wheelchair out of his room, but he stopped for a few seconds to talk to reporters, getting up supported by his wife, Wendy Méndez Naal.

«I thank God for this new opportunity. He knows why,” Joaquín Díaz Mena declared.

Likewise, he indicated that his assistant Ana Cristina has good expectations of improvement, and his driver, Flavio, is recovering from minor blows.

“On Sunday morning I will give you more information,” Diaz Mena concluded.
