Man arrested for detonating a firearm in Progreso, Yucatán

A 28-year-old man was arrested in the municipality of Progreso after firing a firearm on a public road.

The events occurred at the Paraíso police station in Progreso, Yucatán after locals reported gunshots to the 911 Emergency Number.

Officers from the Municipal Public Safety and Traffic Department arrived at the scene, where they questioned a man identified as T.P.U., 53 years old.

The resident of the area indicated that his son had attacked him and then took a firearm to fire three shots into the air.

Upon seeing the officers arrive at the home, the subject tried to escape but was intercepted and arrested.

Authorities identified the man as R.E.T.U., 28 years old, who was taken to the public jail for the corresponding procedure.
