Mérida students compete in the 2024 Children’s Knowledge Olympiad

Students from Mérida who aspire to excellence make it to the final of the 2024 Children’s Knowledge Olympiad

A total of 99 sixth-grade students from Merida, who are distinguished by their educational excellence, made up the finalist group that participated in the state stage of the “Children’s Knowledge Olympiad 2024”, in its 62nd edition, from which 15 winners whose results will be announced on June 21.

At the event, the dedication of the more than 34 thousand girls and boys who gave their maximum effort and determination in each of the stages of the competition was recognized, from their first participation in schools until reaching the state phase.

Representing the state secretary of Education, Liborio Vidal Aguilar, the head of Educational Services of Primary Education, Víctor Zapata Ek, highlighted that the Olympiad not only measures knowledge but also represents a life opportunity for girls and boys, who have highlighted throughout this entire contest.

Mario Paredes León, head of the Educational Liaison Office of the Federal SEP, recognized the work coordinated with the Secretariat of Education of the Government of the State of Yucatán (Segey), in each of the phases of this contest, demonstrating the importance of the work collaborative to achieve great results in the education of girls and boys.

A total of 48 girls and 51 boys from 40 municipalities participated in the state stage. During the test, the students showed a remarkable ability to solve the exercises with determination and attention.

The test, designed to evaluate knowledge and skills in four training areas of the New Mexican School, consisted of 88 items that the students solved in a maximum of three hours, time in which they demonstrated their problem-solving ability and put into practice the knowledge acquired from their teachers.

From the contest, 15 students will be selected as winners, with the prizes distributed as follows: seven for urban schools, three for rural schools, two for indigenous people, two for individuals and one for CONAFE. The publication of the results of the winners will take place on June 21, 2024, and can be consulted on the official SEP website at https://www.gob.mx/sep.

The Children’s Knowledge Olympiad, since its inception in 1961, has been a platform to stimulate academic achievement and promote self-improvement among primary school students. In this edition, a total of 34,440 girls and boys from various types of primary schools participated.
