The heavy rain that hit Merida on Father’s Day prompted the intervention of police and firefighters from the Public Security Secretariat (SSP).

In the Bojórquez neighborhood, firefighter unit 881 came to cut down the branches of a tree that, due to the wind and the downpour, were posing a risk, due to its proximity to the power lines. First, trucks 4022 and 4014 from the SSP arrived, whose agents closed 114th Street between 59C and 59CH.

In addition to the danger posed by the tree, the road was impassable due to the large amount of water.

Another case occurred in Ciudad Caucel, where unit 6808 of the SSP also had to cut down a tree to prevent it from falling on Avenida (street) 31. It was found that there were 3 other similar reports in the area, which were attended to by the uniformed officers.

Thus, the Sunday downpour not only caused flooding but also damage to trees and traffic lights that stopped working for a while, including those on Avenida Jacinto Canek, at the intersection with Avenida Zamná.
