Quintana Roo authorities monitor tropical wave and potential cyclone in the Atlantic

The governor of the state of Quintana Roo, Mara Lezama, asked citizens to take precautions and stay informed through official media in case of any eventuality.

On Thursday, June 27, the State Coordination of Civil Protection of Quintana Roo (Coeproc) reported on the meteorological conditions that will affect the region, including the formation of a potential cyclone in the Atlantic Ocean.

The movement of tropical wave number five over the southern portion of the Yucatan Peninsula and the entry of humidity from the Caribbean Sea will cause a partially cloudy sky with increases in cloudiness during the day, in addition to rain with intervals of showers and electrical activity in some areas of the state.


The State Coordination of Civil Protection of Quintana Roo (Coeproc) also warned about the approach of a low pressure area with potential for cyclonic development towards the peninsular region, which will increase the potential for rain in the Yucatan Peninsula and the state of Quintana. Roo.

An area of ​​low pressure associated with a tropical wave in the Atlantic Ocean has increased its probability of cyclonic development to 40% in 48 hours and to 70% in seven days.

It is located about 5,960 km east of the coast of Quintana Roo, moving west at a speed of between 24 and 32 km/h.
