The Government of Yucatan reported that the remodeling project of the Plaza Grande includes the planting of 80 new trees, in addition to the creation of more areas with vegetation, which will double the number of trees it currently has.

The state government specified that the Plaza Grande currently has 41 trees, plus various vegetation, such as palms, of which the replacement of some of the trees is contemplated because they are sick, dry, and at risk of falling, representing a danger to passersby, so the planting of 80 new trees is contemplated.

In addition, it is intended to plant 150 trees of the Maculis species in the Tourist and Gastronomic Corridor of Calle 60, in the Historic Center, a process that is carried out gradually, to plant trees in this area of the city.

For this stage of tree planting, personnel from the Secretariat of Sustainable Development (SDS) supervised the planting of these maculís specimens in holes previously conditioned with adequate substrate and once the plants were placed, they were covered with extra soil and watered with water, so the population is invited to contribute to the care of these trees.
