The roof of a bar in downtown Mérida collapses; there are injured

The roof of a bar in the center of Mérida collapsed on the afternoon of Tuesday, June 11, an accident in which some of the people who were there suffered minor injuries.

The accident occurred at the intersection of 70th and 49th streets in Mérida, where police and firefighters from the Ministry of Public Security (SSP) arrived on site minutes after the incident.

According to preliminary data, some people were inside the bar when the roof suddenly fell. These people suffered some injuries, but none of them were serious.

Police officers cordoned off the streets while firefighters carried out rescue work and medical care for the injured.

A witness commented that just weeks ago the business opened its doors again after a remodel. After the rescue efforts, the streets were already open to vehicle traffic.
