As part of the combined efforts for the comprehensive well-being of women and their access to a life free of violence, the Women’s Secretariat (Semujeres) awarded the Violet Distinction to the 72 schools of the Yucatan State High School College ( Cobay) that culminated in the training process.
Wendy Leticia Rejón Barrancos, in charge of Semujeres, recalled that the delivery of the badges resulted from the agreement signed last November to continue generating more inclusive and safe educational spaces for women.
Through the Distintivo Violeta program, teaching staff and students are trained in gender issues and routes of action in situations of violence with the objective that educational institutions are endorsed as safe spaces that promote equality, comprehensive well-being, and women’s empowerment.
“We want to thank the 72 institutions, as well as their teaching staff and students, who committed to the training so that their schools are spaces free of violence and with better opportunities for women. Now you are our allies in preventing violence and we are sure that in all schools we will continue working with a gender perspective,” said Leticia Rejón.
Heber Orlando Ramírez Erosa, in charge of the general management of Cobay, expressed his gratitude to all the people who, with their hard work and efforts, contributed to obtaining the Distinction.
In addition to the training, work tables, and student fairs, each of the campuses formed its own committees and first contact care units in situations of violence, which will contribute to providing timely attention to those who require it and promote mechanisms for the prevention, attention, and reporting of gender violence in educational institutions.
